Geri Ravelo
Geri Ravelo grew up in Manila, Philippines near a local bakery where she fondly recalls awakening to the smell of fresh baked bread. Little did she know that this childhood smell would remain with her throughout her career. Ravelo was further inspired by her grandmother who she describes as a “goddess in the kitchen”. It was from this matriarch that she started to understand flavor from a young age. This early inspiration led her to the decision to choose baking as a career. Eager to expand her education, Ravelo moved to the US where she gained experience working in the food and beverage industry.
In 2003, Ravelo graduated from The Art Institute of Atlanta with a degree in Culinary Arts with a concentration in Baking and Pastry. Following graduation, Ravelo broadened her experience. After “putting in the time” at hotels, bakeries, private clubs and even cruise ships she decided she wanted to be involved in a Chef driven, free standing, restaurant.
In 2007, Ravelo was hired at the prestigious Capital City Club in Downtown Atlanta as a pastry assistant. Within 6 months she was promoted to Executive Pastry Chef. Here she oversaw not only the restaurant, but the banquets and catering. Ravelo presided over Capital City Club for four years where she made a name for herself in the Atlanta culinary scene.
Since joining the Murphy’s team she has incorporated her classic style into the comforting seasonal cuisine the Murphy’s customer has come to know and love.
Ravelo is a proud member of The James Beard Foundation.
